The sightings began in 1949 when several students and a campus police officer came across a creepy looking silvery three-eyed man eating a chicken in front of the Longstreet Theatre. When confronted, the man fled into the sewers and disappeared into the labyrinth of tunnels criss-crossing the city.
Authorities searched the tunnels for the beast but found nothing. Whatever it was, disappeared. Of course, being a college campus, students started heading into the tunnels as initiations, dares or just seeking adventure. Some reported being attacked by the beast and a strange scream emanating from it.
Eventually, the university walled off almost all of the entrances to the steam tunnels in an effort to keep students from going down there in search of the beast. Or, what is to keep the beast in? Come find out.
